Alicia Marie Williams

Artist Bio

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, but I live close enough to New Jersey (where most of my family is from) that I also grew up in New Jersey. I had always had an interest in art, but I never wanted to be an artist because I didn't think that was a profession.

I have been interested in many other things. In high school I was excelling in speaking German, I was very good at math and enjoyed it, and I play multiple instruments. I was fighting choosing art my whole high school career after taking my first art class my first semester. I had a friend that was in the graphic design class and I immediately decided I wanted to take a class like that. After I had taken a 2D class, which was drawing and painting, I had realized I was fighting something I was meant to do. From that point on, I have been deep in the depths of art moving from concentration to concentration, with the consistent concentration of graphic design.

I think what I love most about art and what I do is that I find it hard to show how I feel about people or just things in general, but through my art I find that what I create during a good or hard time expresses it. Along with elaborate, thought-out pieces, I also like to make things for family and friends as gifts to show my appreciation for them. I have bound books, painted pottery, dabbled in pyrography, made paintings, candles, soaps, face scrubs, shower melts, and ornaments.

I'm glad I get to live life creating. Even if you aren't someone who has a job in an artistic field, CREATE.
